Our natural gas comes mainly from Eastern Europe, around the Persian Gulf, North America, the Far East, and Africa. Central Europe also has natural gas deposits, particularly in the North Sea and in the countries surrounding it.
Russia and Iran are at the top of the list of countries with the richest natural gas deposits, each with around 18 % of proven global reserves; they are followed by Qatar (13 %), Turkmenistan (9 %), the United States (5 %), Saudi Arabia (4 %), the United Arab Emirates (3 %), and Nigeria (also 3 %).
